The Department of Gynecology at Children's Hospital Colorado is a multi-disciplinary practice, working closely with Adolescent Medicine, providing consultation, evaluation and treatment for a variety of gynecological-related conditions with sensitivity to each patient's psychological and emotional needs. Physicians and staff are specially trained in age-appropriate gynecological examination, prepubertal injuries and infections, and the variations in normal prepubertal anatomy and physiology. A strong emphasis is placed on communicating with children, teens and their families in caring and sensitive ways.
The department provides a broad spectrum of gynecology services weekly in the Adolescent Medicine Clinic at Children's Hospital Colorado as well as in Network of Care clinics. Issues involving pediatric vulva disorders, menstrual disorders, ovulation dysfunction, contraception, cervical dysplasia, pelvic pain and adnexal masses are addressed. Surgical procedures are performed with minimally invasive equipment to minimize discomfort in young children and teens.
